  • Dr. Todd Scott


    D.V.M. Western College of Veterinary Medicine 1999

    Dr. Todd Scott is a talented veterinary surgeon who started his career in a mixed animal practice in Wainwright. He joined the staff of Crestwood in 2001 and became a partner in 2004. Todd has a special interest in orthopedic surgery and was certified to perform TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) procedures in 2003.

    Outside of the clinic Todd enjoys spending time with his twin daughters on their very busy farm. He has four dogs, Lexi, Paris and Vegas, who are boxers and Carly, a French Bulldog.  The family also has two cats called Mr. Snuggles and Bebe. Todd is an accomplished horseman and a passionate golfer.

  • Dr. Mary Machum

    Dr. Mary Machum always knew she wanted to be a small animal vet, but put her ambition on hold to study commerce and pursue a career in business during her twenties. In 1982, she decided it was time to return to university, first to study sciences and then veterinary medicine. She started working at Crestwood in 1982 as a volunteer, joined the staff as a veterinarian after graduation from OVC in 1991, and became a partner in 1992.

    Mary has a particular interest in animal behavior and handles most of the centre's behavioral consultations. She also likes internal medicine. She has served as a board member for the Edmonton Humane Society and the veterinary representative on the City of Edmonton Animal Control Advisory Board.

    Mary was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She moved to Edmonton with her family when she was sixteen. She has one child named Scott, three dogs named Danny Boy, Lucy, and Kiwi. All three are Dandie Dinmont terriers. Mary is also a lifelong horse person, and spends as much time as possible exploring the river valley trails with her horse Smartie. 

  • Dr. Andrea Pellegrino


    D.V.M. Western College of Veterinary Medicine 2015

    CCRP University of Tennessee 2019

    Dr. Pellegrino graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 and enjoys the multi-faceted nature of small animal medicine having a special interest in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, andneurology. Dr. Pellegrino is now certified in Canine Rehabilitation through the University of Tennessee Program. She is a certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) as of June, 2019. Over the past several years, Dr. Pellegrino has volunteered her time to several spay, neuter, and wellness clinics throughout northern Saskatchewan and was fortunate enough to work with Veterinarians Without Borders in Puerto Natales, Chile in 2012.

    Andrea grew up travelling between Calgary, Alberta and Penticton, British Columbia. Before she pursued a career in veterinary medicine, she was heavily involved in research, but found her passion lay in animal care.

    Andrea has a Boston Terrier named Bumble Bee and in her free time Andrea enjoys sewing and quilting and stays active participating in several sports including soccer, yoga and running. She looks forward to getting to know you and your beloved four legged friends!

  • Dr. Doug Heffelfinger

    Young Veterinarian of The Year 2011

    Doug has been a full-time veterinarian at Crestwood since his graduation in 2005. His various areas of expertise include ultrasonagraphy, endoscopy, reproduction and all aspects of small animal surgery and medicine.

    Doug was born and raised in Beaumont, Alberta and now lives in Edmonton with his wife, Kerri and two sons, Liam and Caleb. The couple have a Golden Retriever named Maddie, a cat named Mozart. A member of the Theriogenology Society, Doug is the former treasurer for EASAV and is on the advisory committee for the animal control board. 

  • Dr. Jennifer Wheeler


    D.V.M. University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine 2016

    Dr. Wheeler started working at Crestwood in July 2018 after working in mixed animal practice in Vermilion for 2 years. 

    Jenn was born and raised in Edmonton and has always had a passion for pets, especially dogs. Jenn shares her home with her husband, 3 dogs and 2 cats. 

    After graduating from Calgary, Jenn moved to Vermilion to start mixed animal practice where she was able to practice on a variety of species such as cows, horses, dogs and cats. Her favourite aspects of veterinary medicine include internal medicine and dermatology.

  • Dr. Cyntia Kashivakura


    D.V.M., M.S.C.

    Londrina State University, Brazil

    Dr. Cyntia Kashivakura joined the Crestwood family in July 2019 and is happy to be part of such an amazing team of professionals.

    Cyntia is originally from Brazil and completed her Veterinary school in 2003 at Londrina State University. She worked for about 6 years with jaguars in several areas of Brazil such as Amazon, Cerrado, and Pantanal. She also volunteered at the Wildlife Center in Virginia, at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, DC and worked with scat detection dogs before moving to Canada.

    In 2010, she moved to Canada to pursue her Master's degree at the University of Calgary, which she completed in 2013.
    She moved to Edmonton after finishing her Master's degree and had the opportunity to work in several clinics as a tech assistant while going through the North American Veterinary licensing process.

    Cyntia likes all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has special interest in emergency medicine, surgery, and some aspects of internal medicine.

    In her free time, Cyntia loves traveling, hiking, and exploring new places with her husband, daughter, and their three-legged dog Behdzi.

  • Dr. Robyn Geers

    Bachelors of Veterinary Science (BVSc) - University of Queensland, Australia

    Dr. Geers was born and raised in Coaldale, Alberta. After high school she attended the University of Lethbridge as a biology major. During this time she applied and was accepted to veterinary science program at the University of Queensland, in Australia. She spent five years in Australia studying as well as exploring the country. She graduated in 2017 and returned to Alberta to be closer to family and friends. She has previously worked in Okotoks in emergency and general practice and has been a locum at several clinics in Edmonton. She has volunteered her time and skills to the St. Johns therapy Dog Program and the Alberta Spay and Neuter task force. She has a special interest in internal medicine as well as preventative health to ensure each of her patients live the longest and healthiest life possible. When she is not vetting her free time is spent adventuring outside with her Golden Retriever Red.

  • Dr. Ashley Book


    D.V.M. University of Sydney

    Dr. Book grew up in the Edmonton area, on an acreage north of Stony Plain. She attended the University
    of Alberta where she completed her Bachelor of Science. After graduation, she took some time to travel
    and work before starting the veterinary science program at the University of Sydney in Australia. She
    met her husband there and married before graduating in 2013. Dr. Book moved back to Canada where
    she worked in rural mixed practice in St. Paul, Alberta while waiting for her American permanent
    residency. She then moved to Seattle, Washington to be with her husband and start a family. Dr. Book
    lived and worked in the Seattle area for 5 years before relocating back to Edmonton to raise her family.
    Dr. Book is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine while creating meaningful bonds with clients
    and their pets. She enjoys surgery and internal medicine and has a special interest in senior pet care.
    Dr. Book has 3 small children: Sydney, Samuel, and Isabelle. They live in Spruce Grove and have enjoyed
    being back in the Edmonton area closer to family. They have a bichon-shih tzu cross named Lincoln, who
    is 14 years old but still acts like a puppy. Dr. Book enjoys reading, running, and skiing, and plays softball
    and ringette during her free time.

  • Pat D.

    Office Manager

    Pat Started at Crestwood in 2008 and has been a Veterinary Receptionist for over 30 years. She since has become Crestwood's Office Manager. She has three dogs Ryoko and Lilly and a collie mix called Muppet. Pat enjoys gardening in the summer time. 

  • Melissa G.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    CCRP University of Tennessee 2019

    Melissa was originally from Manitoba and moved to Alberta to attend N.A.I.T's Registered Veterinary Technician program. She graduated the R.V.T. program in 2016 and started with us at Crestwood shortly after. Melissa has been a certified Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) through the University of Tennessee since June, 2019. Melissa has two cats named Shady and Gee that she loves very much and in her free time she enjoys traveling, skiing, camping, and other outdoor activities.

  • Amy H.

    Registered Veterinary Technologist, Olds College 2008

    Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner, University of Tennessee 2017

    Certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture, CIVT, February 2021

    Over the years of seeing animals struggle with arthritis and mobility issues, Amy became devoted to helping improve their quality of life. This lead her to completing her Certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP). This program included extensive anatomy, pathophysiology of various orthopedic and neurologic conditions, and a variety of treatments such as laser therapy. In addition, she now holds her certification in acupuncture as another means of relieving pain and improving health and well being. Amy has extensive experience in training dogs to use specialized physio equipment for the ultimate goal of improving comfort, strength, and flexibility. She enjoys getting to know each individual patient, and being a part of their improvement. 

    Amy volunteered at AIWC (The Alberta Institute of Wildlife Conservation) and assisted with the care of eagles, owls, and a variety of other native species. She loves animals of all types, and would be joyed to be involved in the physical rehabilitation of any type of pet you have!

    Amy comes to us from Calgary where she also has experience in canine assisted swimming. In her spare time she enjoys camping, dirt biking and practicing Jiu Jitsu. She had a wonderful, loyal, loveable dog named Tinka who lived to be 14 and was happy every day. She even got to go camping on her last weekend! A “cat” now resides with Amy and he is quite the character. 


  • Leanna M.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Leanna graduated from NAIT in 2007. She has been an AHT at the clinic since January 2008. She shares her home with various pugs from her breeding program as well as an occasional rescue. She is heavily involved in the breeding program at Crestwood as well.

    Leanna spends her free time breeding and showing her pugs and has produced the Top Winning Pug of All Time in Canada.

  • Ashley F.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Ashley started working at Crestwood Veterinary Centre as a Kennel Attendant in 2011 and has since completed the Animal Health Technology program at NAIT. She has a Jack Russell Terrier named Milo.

    Ashley enjoys traveling and hiking in her free time with her husband and son.

  • Brandi S.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Brandi graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at NAIT in the spring of 2010. She joined the Crestwood Veterinary team in March 2013. She shares her home with two dogs; a Boston Terrier cross named Axle, and a Boxer cross named Mila.

    She enjoys playing softball in the summer and camping.

  • Jessica S.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Jessica graduated from N.A.I.T.'s Animal Health Technology program in 2017 with honors and was awarded the Governor General Bronze Medal. She completed her practicum at Crestwood Veterinary Centre and loved it so much she just had to stay! Jessica's favorite parts of being an RVT are anesthesia / surgery and client education. At home, she has 4 cats: Sal, Curi, Charlie and Hamish. She hopes to add a canine companion into the mix in the near future! In her spare time, you can find Jessica on the volleyball court, having coached several club teams in the Edmonton area.

  • Jayla S.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Jayla graduated from N.A.I.T.'s Animal Helth Technology program in the spring of 2016 and has worked as an R.V.T. in a variety of environments. After exploring shelter medicine, spay-and-neuter work, and emergency medicine, she came to Crestwood in 2018. She is excited to be a part of the Crestwood team, and hopes to broaden her knowledge of dentistry, oncology, and pain management in pets. When she isn't working, Jayla enjoys reading, swimming, and playing Dungeons&Dragons with her friends.

  • Veronica S.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Veronica graduated from N.A.I.T.'s Animal Health Technology program in 2019 with honors. She completed her practicum at Crestwood Veterinary Centre and has been with us ever since. Veronica has one cat named Bub who she loves dearly. In her free time Veronica enjoys yoga, hiking, and thrifting. 

  • Billie K.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Billie graduated from Lakeland College's Animal Health Technology program in 1999.  She has spent her career working in an orthopedic and general surgery practice.  Looking for a new challenge, Billie joined the Crestwood family September 2019.  When she's not at work she spends time with her two boys and husband.  She enjoys reading, camping and traveling.  Billie has two dogs, a Border Collie named Sadie and a Shih-Tzu named Hetty and a Bearded Dragon named Bob.

  • Becky P.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Becky graduated from the N.A.I.T. Animal Health Technology program with Honors in 2020 and, after spending her practicum at Crestwood, immediately signed on to stay as a full-time tech once her practicum was complete. She is a Fear Free Certified tech who is passionate about animal comfort, care, and safety. In addition to being eager to continue to learn and grow in general practice, Becky has a keen interest in orthopedics, rehabilitation, and cytology. Becky is also the proud owner of two energetic, happy felines of her own named Cecilia and Casper.

    Joanne is a part time receptionist and has been at Crestwood since 1992. She has two grown up children and lives with her husband Brent. They have a pug beagle cross named Monster.

    Joanne enjoys riding, golfing and traveling.

  • Jodi P.


    Jodi has been a part time receptionist at the clinic since 2002. She has 3 boys involved in sports, so she is always on the go. In her spare time Jodi plays organized ball, loves camping, spending time with her grandchildren and also makes country and primitive home-made crafts.

    She has a very busy household full of family and her very cherished pets.

    Jessica is a full time receptionist and has been a member of the reception team since August 2009. She started with Crestwood shortly after graduating from the Veterinary Administrative Assistant program at N.A.I.T.

    She enjoys drawing and spending time with her Husband and daughter. Jessica has a dog named Ollie and a chinchilla named Squirrel.

    Niki started volunteering September 2018 and has since been hired as a full time Receptionist. She graduated  the Veterinary Office and Technical Assistant program in March 2019 from Robertson College . Niki has a dog, Tala & two cats, Milo, and Kricket. 

  • Jodie M.


    Jodie started at Crestwood in July 2019. She has previously worked as a groomer and vet assistant and plans to attend tech school in the future. Jodie loves providing care for animals both at work and at home, she has a cat, a dog and a hedgehog. In her free time she enjoys singing with her choir, rock climbing and trying to keep her beagle, Bentley out of the garbage.

    Taylor graduated from N.A.I.T.'s Veterinary Medical Assistant program in the spring of 2017.  After working at the Animal Emergency Hospital in Red Deer for close to a year she decided on a change and started with Crestwood in July of 2019. Taylor spends her free time taking care of two crazy pups, Rogue and Daisy. She also loves music and performs as often as she can in and around the city.

    Courtenay graduated from NorQuests Veterinary Office Assistant program with Honours and was thrilled to be accepted into the Crestwood family in October of 2019. She is a proud new dog mom to a sweet Jack Russell Terrier puppy named Jagger who will be outside everyday all day adventuring with her when she is not working.

    Tech Assistant

    Cally started working at Crestwood Veterinary Centre in August 2018. She previously volunteered at another veterinary clinic for 2 years, and worked at a boarding kennel for 5 years. Currently, Cally is in the Veterinary Technician program at Thompson Rivers University.

    In her spare time she enjoys going to the gym, practicing yoga, and playing lacrosse. She has two dogs, Preston and Henry and three cats Kevin, Gary and Marvin.

    Tech Assistant

    Cassidy started out at Crestwood as Kennel staff and since has become a Tech Assistant. She has traveled throughout Australia and South East Asia. Cassidy loves her miniature Dachshunds Snoopy and Delilah.  

  • Emily H.

    Kennel Attendant

    Emily graduated from Archbishop MacDonald High School in 2018 and has been a part of our team as a kennel attendant ever since. Her goal for the future is to become a veterinary technician so she can continue to demonstrate her compassion and love for animals. Emily currently has two cats, named Charlie and Misha, as well as a dog named Hunter. She loves to spend her spare time with her dog at the dog park.

    Kennel Attendant

    Dylan started working at Crestwood Veterinary Center as a volunteer in 2019 and was hired shortly there after as a Kennel Attendant. Once he finishes his BSc in Animal Health at the U of A, he plans to work towards his MSc in Veterinary medicine before becoming a Veterinarian. 
    At work, you can find Dylan reaching something up high or carrying your pets around the clinic! In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, running, and eating enough food for two.  Dylan has two dogs, Zeus, and Quinn and two cats Spike and Sadie.

    Kennel Attendant

    My name is Keira, I am currently studying and Grant MacEwan University working towards a major in psychology. In my spare time I enjoy playing soccer, skiing in the mountains, and spending time with my family. I am very focused and work hard on what I do! I love animals and I’ve had many pets since I was born. I have two cats, Prada and Chanel. As well as a golden retriever named Casey. I love them with all my heart.

    Kennel Attendant

    Nicole started as a volunteer at Crestwood Veterinary Centre in 2017, and was hired on as a kennel attendant in 2020. Through working at the clinic and pursuing a degree in Animal Health at the University of Alberta, she hopes two accomplish her two main goals in life: working in the veterinary field, and owning a miniature donkey. Outside of work Nicole enjoys mountain biking, hiking and spending time with her three dogs, Jamarkus, Callebaut and Five. 

  • Hayley B.

    Kennel Attendant

    Hayley began volunteering at Crestwood several years ago and has now returned to gain more experience in the clinic as she works toward her goal of becoming a veterinarian. She graduated from the University of Alberta in the Spring with her Bachelor of Science in Animal Health. Some of Hayley's other passions are mental health, sustainability, music, microbiology and public health! She also cares for her own dog Eli, a 5 year-old terrier mix she rescued from Mexico!

    Reception Assistant

    Kelly started at Crestwood as a volunteer and has since been hired on as Kennel staff, then Receptionist Assistant. As well as working at Crestwood, Kelly is currently at N.A.I.T. for Conservation biology. She has two beautiful English Springer Spaniel’s named, Aimee and Hazel. Kelly is a world traveler and loves going to Kelowna B.C. with her family. She also enjoys figure skating, and spending time at horse ranches.

    Reception Assistant

    Kennedy started at Crestwood Veterinary Center as a volunteer in November 2018 to follow her passion of caring for animals. She is currently completing her final year of BSc in Animal Health at the University of Alberta. She is working towards achieving her life-long goal of attending the University of Calgary for Veterinary medicine. Kennedy’s favourite part about working at Crestwood is getting hands on experience and learning from the knowledgeable staff.
    In her spare time, you can find her studying, knitting, in contortion class or hiking with her mini dachshunds Willow and  Linus and friends. She also loves spending time at home with her 14 year old chihuahua, Nykita and 12 year old mini dachshund Chiclet.

  • Mikaela B.

    Reception Assistant

    Mikaela joined the Crestwood team September 2020, and has been such a great help to us. She adopted her dog Bentley about 1.5 years ago from a friend of hers, and loves him very much. She is passionate about fighting against animal cruelty and one day Mikaela hopes to open a rescue for animals who have been abused.
